SWE-PNW Fiscal
Year 2008 Strategic Plan Synopsis
Strategy 1: SWE will
provide opportunities for women to attain,
enhance, and demonstrate leadership,
professional, and technical excellence that
results in career achievement, advancement, and
satisfaction.
How we’ll achieve this
goal…
-
Fill open committee chair positions and have
backups for each. Open positions are
opportunities for professional development.
-
Ensure that each officer position has a
succession plan –
Start thinking about
how you’d like to be involved next year and
let that officer know
-
Update SWE-PNW website frequently so members
may refer to it for the latest section
information –
Check back often for updates
-
Inform members about nationally-offered
professional development seminars.
-
Fill open positions for sponsors of
Collegiate Interest Groups (CIG’s) at
Highline and Everett Community Colleges
-
Nominate members for local and national
awards – Look at
www.swe.org
to see available awards and start thinking
early about applying
-
Recognize members’ past and current
accomplishments through our newsletter,
website, and other activities –
Let Kelly Vilven
(newsletter) know about your accomplishments
-
Hold monthly programs that are both of
technical and personal interest to the
members
Strategy 2: SWE will
embrace and promote the value and power of
diversity in specialties, age, race, ethnicity,
language, gender identity, sexual orientation,
and interests.
How we’ll achieve this
goal…
-
Recruit members who work for companies other
than Boeing –
recruit your friends to join SWE
-
Hold joint meetings with other technical
societies
Strategy 3: SWE will share its acquired
knowledge and promote programs that bridge the
gaps in recruitment, professional development,
and retention of women in engineering.

goal…

Create a mentoring program with the UW SWE
section beginning in Nov. 2007 –
we’re looking for
experienced mentors – email
Tamaira Ross
